# Lauki

> Lauki is a messaging app with a mind of its own. You chat with friends, family and groups like any messenger, and Lauki, an AI assistant who lives in the app, takes care of the rest when you talk to him.

Lauki runs on iPhone, Android and the web. In your direct chat with Lauki he reads everything you send him; in other chats he only opens a message when someone tags @lauki, replies to him or says his name.

- End-to-end encrypted: a message is sealed on your device before it leaves. The one key on Lauki's side that can open a message is Lauki's own, held so he can answer you; every open under that key is logged and shown in the chat. No person at the company reads your messages.
- Lauki's AI providers run zero data retention: they store nothing you send and do not train on it.
- The notes and memory Lauki keeps about you live in a private container of his own, outside the chat database. As of today the company's admins can access that container. Ask Lauki and he will tell you what he holds, or forget it.
